MARRIAGE NOTICES IN DEMOCRATIC SENTINEL, DAILY SENTINEL, AND DAILY MAIL FROM 1892 TO 1909Introduction This database has 4,689 entries that come from three Bloomsburg newspapers: Democratic Sentinel, Daily Sentinel, and the Daily Mail. The database can be searched in any one of its eight categories.
The notes category may have additional information related to the entry. However, only 170 of the entries have information in this section. The entries from these three newspapers begin on January 25, 1892 , to October 29, 1909 . In addition, there are 125 entries in which wedding dates are listed from December 10, 1783 , to July 3, 1890 . Often this information came from articles about a couple’s wedding anniversary. Stephen Wiist, a member of the Society, compiled this database of marriage notices; he spent hundreds of hours searching these newspapers for the information and entering it into a database. The Society is very appreciative of his time and dedication in preparing this index. He has also created other databases for marriage and death notices. His contributions have enabled the Society to increase its resources, and, in turn, help numerous individuals in doing their research. There is a fee for a copy of a marriage notice from one of these three newspapers in this database. Please use the “Photo Copy Request Form” to order a notice. Search Now |
