St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church

St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church located in Sugarloaf Township along State
Route 487 is few miles north of Benton, Pennsylvania.  According to
Historical and Biographical Annals of Columbia and Montour Counties,
Pennsylvania
, published by J. H. Beers & Company in 1915, the original church
constructed of logs, completed in 1812, jointly owned by Episcopalians,
Lutherans, and Presbyterians, was for many years the only church in the
township.  In 1876 a fire destroyed the building and it was replaced with the
present structure in 1877.
