BLOOMSBURG'S FIFTH STREET ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, CIRCA 1900

The Bloom Township School Board approved plans on September 3, 1869, to erect a two-storied elementary school on East Fifth Street.  Students attended the school until a new school, Memorial Elementary School, opened at Fifth and Market Streets in 1953.  Today the Columbia Child Department Program, 215 East Fifth Street, occupies the site.
