Berwick-Nescopeck Bridge

Under Construction - 1906

The view is looking from Berwick across the Susquehanna River to Nescopeck.  The March 1904 flood had destroyed the old wooden covered bridge between Berwick and Nescopeck built in the late 1830s.  The state awarded the contract to build the new steel bridge at a cost of $209,500 to York Bridge Company on June 13, 1905, and was completed in 1906.  Many years later, it was replaced with a new bridge of a much different design in the early 1990s.
