Your website has DRAMATICALLY improved! I am impressed. I have a 1900 census problem. I have two different families: Jacob Oman (b Nov 1846) & Sarah J (b 23 Jun 1847/8) of Mt Pleasant, Columbia Co, PA (children: Truman, Charles, Nora, Della, Earnest)and another Jacob Oman (b Oct 1847) & Sarah J (b Dec 1853) in Greenwood Twp (child: John b Nov 1884). The second Jacob seems to be with a brother (Norman, Harman, something difficult to read) who is b Aug 1840 and married to Mary E and has Mary A, Eva R, Ruth E, Harry B. I know who the first Jacob is but I have not a clue who the second Jacob is.

The Jacob Oman in Mount Pleasant Township is son of Samuel (1807-1877) and Catharine Oman, farmers of that township in the 1850 Census, when they had nine children; Samuel bought property there in 1829. The Greenwood Twp. Jacob is probably a brother of Reuben, who lives next door, and they may be nephews of Samuel. Our volunteers can do research on both Jacobs if you wish; see the website's "Research Service" for the fees and forms. (Sorry for the delay in responding; there was a mixup in the office.) --W. Baillie Thanks for your kind comments on the improved site, we have worked hard - webmaster

Hi, I'm Mike Wilson son of Francis J Wilson, grandson of Francis Wilson g-grandson of Joseph Wilson abt 1843. Catherine abt. 1855 was his wife married 1874. Looks like they got married in Shamokin and lived in Conyngham, Columbia Co. PA until the 1900's. They had 16 children only 11 made it to adulthood. Joseph died around 1901, Catherine died in 1911. The 1880 Census show them with 3 children Joseph abt 1876 Mary abt 1877 Thomas abt 1879 the rest of the children came after this Looking for a little history or life events for these ancestors e.g Marriage, Burial, other Births etc.

Looking for information concerning Michael Clark Christian, especially who his parents were. Michael was born between 1785-1792 possibly in Columbia County. He died around 9/28/1823 in Columbia County. He married Jane Maxwell Kennedy in Columbia County in either 1815 or 1819. Michael may be the son of Valentine Christian & Rebecca Robbins. Valentine settled in Columbia County from Hunterdon County NJ. after his service in the Revolutionary War and died there on or about 12/11/1844. Michael and Jane had three children, one of which, Asa Duman Christian was born in 7/24/1821 in Ispatown, Columbia County. After Michael died in 1823 Jane and the rest of the family moved to St. Joseph County, IN. Michael is my GGGG Grandfather and Asa is my GGG Grandfather. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks you everyone at the Columbia County Historical and Genealogical Society for all your help, attention and feedback as Tim and I spent the better part of more than 2 days rummaging around "your attic." Bonnie, Elsie's recommendation of you was well deserved and very much welcomed! Good luck to all of you. And get the Raid out. Like all pesky gnats, this one WILL be back!! - - - -   photo of the Stoup Photo

I was looking over the pictures that you have on your web site. I was looking at the surrounding areas and noticed that the civil war monument is missing. So this means that the picture must have been taken after 1896. The Curved building is in the back ground and I have seen the date on the building saying it was built in 1896. I see no work in progress on the monument so when ever it was started, then you should be able to date the photo.
