Reviews
"The book deals with the mundane daily
round of activities in the Casserly household in a time of profound social
change and conflict. Skillfully interwoven through all of this is the
rivalries and antagonisms of the various immigrant groups brought to the
coal regions to work in the mines." and "This book
is a worthy addition to coal region literature." More...

It was a good and interesting piece of literature...
I really enjoyed it.
Really loved reading about the early days in Mahanoy City.
The rivalry among the fire companies is almost lost history... I
highly recommend this book!!
